Lacoda

I don't have any pets but this is my daughters little fellow that was killed by a large dog a few month ago. Even though I'm not a person for pets I loved this little fellow and so did she. His name was Lacoda.

Sleep When the Wind Blows

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people werereluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded theawful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he receivedA steady stream of refusals.

Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approachedthe farmer. "Are you a good farm hand?" the farmer asked him."Well, I can sleep when the wind blows," answered the little man.

Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help,Hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy fromdawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushednext door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook thelittle man and yelled, "Get up! A storm is coming!Tie things down before they blow away!"The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, "No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows."

Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him onthe spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks hadbeen covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down.Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what hishired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep whilethe wind blew. When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when thewind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because hehad secured the farm against the storm. We secure ourselves against the storms of life bygrounding ourselves in the Word of God.We don't need to understand, we just need to holdHis hand to have peace in the middle of storms.

A friend of mine sent this to me today, and I enjoyed it so much, that I wanted to send it to you. I hope you enjoy your day and you sleep well.

Can you sleep when the wind blows?

Estate Sale Finds

I finally got to go to an estate sale yesterday
I didn't find very many things that I could afford, but I did find this covered basket for $2.

I also found this stand, dont know what I will do with it, it was only $2 and I thought it was a good deal.

The stand is so heavy, I was just curios to how much it did weigh so I put it on the scales and it weighed 18 pounds. I will probably paint it a dark color and use it for a plant.
This is what the post looks like and the top has oriental designs.

And I got a jar of buttons for .50 cents.
Not much, but I thought it ws a good deal.
All for $4.50, what do you think?

THRIFT STORE SHOPPING

Well, I did something the other day that I hadn't done in a long time. I went Thrift Store Shopping
My SIL called and mentioned "junkin" and I told her that I had been wanting to go. My brother just happened to be home and he wanted to go also. Most men don't like this sort of thing, but he does.

We went to two Goodwills, two Mission Thrift Stores and The Salvation Army Thrift Store.

I didn't find anything that I wanted, only I saw something in someones hand that I would have liked to have found.

Well, I made the mistake of mentioning it to my SIL which mentioned it to the lady that had it.

She told the lady that I would have liked to have found it and the lady gave it to her, she said that she didn't need it anyway, she had one. My SIL went on to point me out to her, which I didn't know about this until my SIL came to the car. I was on my way out of the store. That would have been so embarrassing.

I had one that I had found at a yard sale, but I gave it to my son. He was going to make blackberry cobbler and he didn't have one.

Well, this is what it was.

20 Ways to Maintain a Healthy Level of Insanity

To be able to do some of these would just make my day.

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.
2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.
3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it 'IN.'
5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 Weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to Espresso.
6. In the Memo Field of all your checks, write 'For Smuggling Diamonds.'
7. Finish all your sentences with 'In Accordance With the Prophecy.'
8. Don’t use any punctuation.
9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.
10. With a serious face, order a Diet Water whenever you go out to eat.
11. Specify that your drive-through order is 'To Go.'
12. Sing along at The Opera.13.
Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.
14. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you’re not in the mood.
16. Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Bottom.
17. When the money comes out the ATM, scream 'I Won! I Won!'
18. When leaving the Zoo, start running toward the parking lot, yelling 'Run for Your Lives, They're Loose!!'
19. Tell your children over dinner, 'Due to the Economy, we are going to have to let one of you go.'
20. And the final way to keep a Healthy Level of Insanity ... Send this on to make your friends smile."

WHICH ONE OF THESE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO DO?

Need Your Opinion

It's hard to believe I am posting two days in a row.
About six years ago I decided that I was going to make a quilt.

Well, I got started in a big way, I went and bought my fabric, cut my pieces, sewed my pieces, put it together and started to quilt.

I had never quilted in my life but I thought I could do it. First of all I think my batting was too thick and it was too hard to make little stitches, so I quilted a little bit and quit.

What I would like to know is, would it be better to hand quilt it with big stitches, or to have it machine quilted?
If I was to have it machine quilted I would have to take out what I already did, which is not very much.
As you can see it is the Rail Fence.

This is the part of what I quilted, probably cant see it that well.

VINTAGE THURSDAY

I have something vintage to show on this Thursday. This is a bowl and Strawberry that belonged to my grandmother. I really don't know much about old glassware, so maybe someone can tell me something about the bowl, it has three leggs and it is pink glass. I don't know how old it is but my grandma died in 1947.

If anyone can tell me anything about my bowl I would appreciate it.
I probably wont' put coloradoladys vintage thingie on here because
I don't know how to do it, anyway here is the link to her blog http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/because

WEIGHT LOSS

Well here it is, I lost a total of 5.8 pounds, I didn't too well after the three day diet but I am happy with what I lost. Losing is not the hardest part, the hardest part is keeping it off. After I did the Clevland Clinic Diet for three days I did WW points.
